Subject:Large Lacquerware Box

I just purchased two large lacquerware boxes. The one pictured is 17"x17"x8. Both have damage to the lacquer, which exposes a layer of maybe gypsum and linen. I'd like to learn a time frame when these materials were used in constructing lacquerware. I beleive these are Chinese. I would love to hear your input, you guys are so knowledgeable and helpful. Thank you!
