Subject:Question re script on plate bottom
Posted By: Kay Tue, Mar 30, 2021 IP: 85.76.86.3

Would anyone be kind enough to translate this script from the bottom of a plate please?

I have shown it 'both' ways, as am not sure of the correct orientation.

Am I right in thinking that it is Chinese (or is it Japanese)?

Thanks!

It is Japanese,
Bottom marking reads,
大日本 - Dai-Nihon
肥碟山 - Hichōzan
信甫造 - Shinpo-zō
Greater Japan Hichōzan Shinpo Made
Was a brand name, used by several Arita porcelain maker between 1890 and 1920.

With regards,
I.Nagy
