Subject:Porcelain mark translation Japanese or Chinese

Hi,
Could someone take up the challenge and help me translate the seal mark on this vase I have been told this is Japanese then Chinese could someone please help clear up the confusion it would greatly help me out.

A Chinese apocryphal four characters base mark
成化年製 - Chénghuà niánzhì - Made During the
Chenghua Reign
Reason for confusion could be that porcelains with marks imitating Chenghua marks of the Ming dynasty were made at the Japanese Arita/Imari kilns during the 19th century.
