Subject:Painted tiger.
Posted By: Andrea Tue, Aug 10, 2021 IP: 79.17.48.45 Hello and happy holidays to all. Can anyone help me identify this painter? He may be a student of Takeuchi Seihô, there is some resemblance to Mochizuki Seihô 青鳳 望月, but I am unable to interpret the characters or the seal. Thanks in advance for any suggestions, |

Posted By: peter Fri, Aug 13, 2021 Signature and seal read 明鳳, meihou. The character on the scroll is tiger, tora. I can see why you connect this to Takeuchi Seihou. The name and the style of signature and seal are pointing there too, but I have not the material to identify the artist. |

Posted By: Andrea Tue, Aug 17, 2021 Hi Peter, thanks for your reply. I was talking about Mochizuki Seihô (1886-1931), not Takeuchi Meihou. Mochizuki Seihô's original name was Tsukamoto Seihô. He was born in Tokyo and became the adopted son of Mochizuki Kimpô (1846-1915). He became a pupil of Takeuchi Seihô and Yamamoto Shunkyo. I thought I saw similarities with his signature and his seal. |
