Subject:Reticulated Famille Rose Plate
Posted By: Cordelia Tue, Aug 17, 2021 IP: 90.249.220.119

Picked this up at a car boot sale... I know very little about Chinese porcelain - but from what I can find it looks like it's in a Famille Rose style.

The condition is good apart from a bit rubbing on the gold and a couple of tiny nibbles on the rim.

Can anybody enlighten me as I can't find anything similar online...

Many thanks in anticipation!🤞

Does not appear to be Chinese. More in the Herend type work of middle Europe.

Thanks for your reply!

I understand that Herend Ware is always marked- this piece is not.

While flowers, birds and Chinese patterns were frequently copied in European work, I'm not sure that insects such as the ones on the plate were popular 🤔 but they are very typical of Chinese work.

I have collected Chinese export porcelain since 1973. This is not Chinese.

Thank you John, for your input. I have little or no working knowledge of European porcelain, but had a general idea of the plates origin. If it was indeed, Chinese export, I could have been of more help.

Thanks both of you! It doesn't have a mark John, and it's more usual to see insects on Chinese porcelain. Anyway nice that my mystery has been solved!

Thanks again both of you 😊👍
