Hello, I recently bought this painting. From a direct examination it seems to me a painting and not a print. Is in a precarious condition. I'd be interested in having someone's opinion. Is it chinese or japanese? Can anyone identify the signature? Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Very good quality Japanese painting in Chinese style despite the damage, painter is signed as 藤原古道 Fujiwara Kodou maybe, but I Nagy can clarify; I am poor with Japanese given names.

Many thanks Rat. It looks like a good quality painting to me too. I haven't found any painter with that name on the net. But the painters of the Kano school were many. I think I'll try to get it restored.

I also can't find this name in the Encyclopedia of Japanese Painters and Calligraphers (日本書畫家名家大艦 1934 4 vols. 3792 pages)
