Subject:Japanese ink on silk
Posted By: Gary S. Thu, Jul 06, 2023 IP: 69.7.57.218

Trying to find out who the artist is and the approximate date of its creation. Have spent hours comparing the signature to others and trying to decipher the signature and mark. This is in the style of Mori Sosen but the signature does not match nor with any I've found of that school. Help!

The signature says Kansai. And that would mean Mori Kansai. But these monkeys and the signature are done by somebody who is not as good as Kansai around 1900.
best wishes
peter

Thank you Peter.
So it would seem to be a "forgery".
I posted a couple more detail photos.
