Subject:19th Century or Modern Repro?
Posted By: domar Wed, Aug 02, 2023 IP: 108.16.80.84 We found ourselves in possession of this bowl. It has a “Ruo Shen Zhen Cang” mark on the bottom, but otherwise we are struggling to identify or date it. Is this anything approaching an antique or is it a more modern reproduction? |

Posted By: Bill H Thu, Aug 03, 2023 The mark mark of 'Ruo Shen Zhen Cang' (若深珍蔵), 'Precious collection of the seemingly old', appeared first during the Kangxi period on "Official Old Ware" that rivaled imperial porcelains in quality but had no imperial markings. Your bowl doesn't greatly resemble Kangxi wares in its painting style, and as far as I know, the apparent gilt rim is anomalous to blue & White Chinese wares of this type of the Qing era. Therefore, in my opinion, your bowl is probably a contemporary product. |
