Subject:Yellow Peking Vase W/ Reversed 5 Incised Reign Mark
Posted By: Yoi Tue, Aug 08, 2023 IP: 2607:fb91:39a:51f4:a I have a beautiful yellow Peking glass vase with an unusual incised thick block reign mark. It has a rich translucent yellow color. Looking at the rim thr vase it is layered consistent with Peking glass. The edges are carved by some form of scalple knife or cutting tool to shape the vase. I'm wondering if this is an Imperial vase and what period. Obviously the vase is all hand done aith a reign mark etched or incised. Please offer any information, observation or thoughts. Thank you |

Posted By: Yoi Fri, Aug 11, 2023 Thank mikeoz. I acquired the piece from the estate of a well known and influential individual. My first thought of the vase was that it was made for the Imperial court. |

Subject:Yellow Peking Vase W/ Reversed 5 Incised Reign Mark
Posted By: rat Sat, Aug 12, 2023 Peking glass is a tricky topic. There are a number of genuine mark and period items with crudely incised Qianlong reign marks, lacking anything like the care and precision with which this mark has been made. And there are plenty of molded imperial yellow Peking glass items with elaborate molded decoration rather than the simpler form shown here. So looking for expert guidance is appropriate in this area. |
