Subject:Help with soapstone characters
Posted By: Mark M Wed, Jan 17, 2024 IP: 70.118.93.210 Hoping someone can help decipher the characters incised on top rim of the center bowl of this 9" long soapstone carving. They are hard to see so I drew them on this yellow paper. Thank you in advance! Mark |

Posted By: Bill H Thu, Jan 18, 2024 The characters read “Qingtian Jade” (Qing tian Yu shi), actually a softer stone found at Qingtian in Zhejiang Province that is noted for its beautiful colors when carved. |
