Subject:Yellow vase - Qianlong?
Posted By: Sarv Wed, Sep 27, 2006 IP: 216.80.118.177

I think this is a Qianlong 4 character mark? Is that correct? Does the vase look authentic or is it a fake?
Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated!

Photos should be attached..hopefully..

There were no reproductions of peking glass up to about 1980; however your vase appears to be 19th century or at the very least early 20th, but these are uncommon, as few were made at the time. This does not rule out it being a clever copy.

It was a common practise to place marks on older examples to make them more valuable, but it does in fact make a difference overall. It would had been better to leave as is.
