Hi Everyone, I am curious if anyone could tell me what this is. I inheritted but know next to nothing about it.

It is about 3 feet high and about 10" wide at the opening. There is no marking on the bottom of the maker.

Thank you

The dimensions suggest that it is an umbrella stand. It is called Canton ware, and a posting on the Asian Arts Forum should yield much more information from more knowledgable people.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. Is THIS not the Asian Arts Forum? IT tells me it is at teh top of the page.

Thanks

This is the Group Message board. You will find the Main Forum much more interesting in learning how to identify things. The message board is more for trying to sell things or promote exhibitions or auctions and such.

Hi

Thanks for your help, but I posted in what looked to be that forum but no response - at all.

I find this whole site to be seriously buggy. Every time I get notified of a response here, the url link
in the email is invalid, so I have to find the forum, do a search, etc.

If you could tell me the URL for the mysterious forum you speak of that would be very helpful. I posted under another forum with no response, and its title said the same as this one- Asian Arts Forum.

I hate this site's architecture.

Thanks

Phil

Phil,

Link to Forum at top of page.

There is a little glitch; you get notified of response right after it is posted, but moderator doesn't pass it to appear on board until later. You are not the first to have this problem.

A little patience would be good. The forum members are volunteers, not all of whom check in every day. Out of goodness of hearts share knowledge when they have something to say. No one is obliged to respond to any post.

Best regards,
Judy

Hi Judi and thanks for the response.

I completely appreciate the fact that everyone is a volunteer, I figured that. I think you misunderstood- the complaint I have is not about lack of responses, but about the (lack of)ease of navigation and poor web architecture, which to me are incomprehensibly flawed. If I knew who to contact I would work on fixing this myself.

Thanks

Phil
