Subject:Unknown Artist Mark - Elephant Bronze
Posted By: Patrick Kyle Mon, Mar 19, 2007 IP: 68.159.168.72

I was wondering if someone could help me identify or translate the mark in the photo. It is on an elephant bronze that is roughly 20 inches long, 17 inches high. Thank you very much.
Best Regards,
Patrick

Hi,
This appears to be of Japanese origin, around 1900's I have seen these before with same tigers but different composition (see photo). Also is there a secondary metal inlays or is it uniform in color ? Japanese produced quite a few of these for export during the late Meiji era and perhaps even later.

Drop me an email if you need more info, quite interested: prepharb@prepharbour.com
