i am palapan kampan a son of nk.kampan.
the full name of nk. kampan was nikit kampan. he was born in the southern of thailand.
he had never studied art in any school but with his talent he had become a front runner artist of thailand. before he began a professional artist he had ever been a teacher in a private school. he had ever narrated to me that he hoped to become a professional artist so he resigned from that school. he began creating his art works and trying to sell on street.
he told me that on the first year no one bought any of his work. in the second year, he intended to quit but the first picture had been bought by an american soldier ( during in vietnam war ). having known the style of his customers. then he geared to response his customers. at the first decade he painted only water color picture. he change his painting style to oil color and never back to paint water color again.
he work in a Carrier of artist for more than 40 year. he died in 1993 by lung cancer.
the number of his pictures was around 20,000 pieces. almost of them scattered in america, Europe, and some part of Asia. but i,his lovely son had only a few of his picture.
i would like to get the photos of nk.kampan pictures to keep in my memorize. I ever seen some of his picture in a magazine. I miss him so much.

I have just purchased three more of his lovely paintings.

I purchased 2 floral paintings in 1970 while stationed in Udorn

I have 6 of his paintings. I also have 2 grown grandchildren who love them.

I now have 8 of his paintings. We love the brush strokes, colors and composition. He was such a talented man.

I too have one of your fathers paintings. It's a large oil painting of sailing ships in rough seas. I bought it at Sirie's Gallery in Korat around 1973. I don't remember what I paid for it.

I just emailed you a photo of the painting I have. I believe it was purchased in Thailand in the late 60's.

I just acquired one of your father's paintings in oil on canvas. I have no idea of it's age but it does look older. I don't know what he called it but it depicts a village with small fishing boats and hanging nets. You can see people going about their lives. I will try to send a pic of it soon.

I recently bought a painting of your father's from a shop in Melbourne, Australia. On the back it has a "Certificate of Originality" from S.C.Gallery in Bangkok. Part of the text thereon, states that Nikit completed a 5 year course of art from the Ministry of Education. I am sending this to you, as you stated that, "he had never studied art". You may wish to verify if the certificate is correct. I trust this may help you to find out a little bit more about him and his time as an artist.

Hi Palapan, I was just looking online for the artist of the two pictures I own. I was only 6 months old when my father was stationed in Thailand with us. He brought two of your father's painting painted on wood boards dated 1967. I have loved them all these years. I will try to send photos of the two of them. Thank you for tell us about your father.

I am not 100% sure of the date this painting was purchased, but it was purchased by my father in law, Terry, while he was stationed in Thailand during or shortly after the Vietnam War. My father in law was in the Army at the time, but I'm sure the likelihood that this is the painting you are referring to is small. It is however, a painting we enjoy very much and I am glad to get a chance to have some back story to it.

MY grandfather travelled to Thailand back in the 60's (I am guessing). I am selling his N.K. Kampan painting. i assume it is original (didnt open up the frame to make sure).

If anyone is interested, you should be able to find it by searching N.K. Kampan framed painting.

I also have a picture of your father. It was bought by my late uncle. Unfortunately, I do not know where he bought it or how much he paid.

An older man who used to shop in my gallery in Brunswick, GA about 15 years ago gave me one of your father’s pieces ... which I still have.

I purchased this painting in 1975 at Sierie Gallery in Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat), Thailand while stationed there with the US Air Force. I also purchased a few more but lost them in a divorce. I have always loved this work of the floating market in Bangkok. The canvas is approximately 22" x 30" with the teak frame being 28" x 36".

I have been lucky enough to find 5 of your father's paintings at an estate sale of a Vet. Here is a picture of one of them.

This one was found in one of the flats I rented in the center of Barcelona.

at the 17:56 minute a woman saw one of your father's paintings in an estate sale which I thought you might like to see. It is quite beautiful. I know the pain of loss of parents, spouse, brother, son.

Greetings, Our Church in Mountain Home, Arkansas USA, received these to sell in a fundraiser. The sale starts Friday, August 16, 2024 at 8am. They are beautiful pieces of original art, I hope someone will appreciate them. I am sorry your system would not let me post the picture of the 2 junk boat paintings, it was a jpeg file, not sure of problem.
