Subject:AMARI PLATTERS
Posted By: Lois Wed, May 16, 2007 IP: 207.200.116.14

I was wondering if there is anyone out there who might be able to assist me in valuation and possible sale of some Amari plates I have. The sizes range from 12" to 24" in dia. All of the plates have some type of painting on the back in blue color only, not multi color like the front. One plate is numbered and another plate contains what I believe are chinese characters.

They were purchased around the 1930's from my father in law who was a ship's officer who traveled to Asia many times.

Any help on this endeavor would be appreciated.

The first one looks to me to be a Chinese piece 20th C.. The 2nd photo--My opinion is (1880-1915) or so and for the last?? No photo of back but would say late 19th early 20th but without photo of back it is just a guess...they are good collectibles and have a decent value. The 24" inch charger, is it in these photos? If the last one is the 24" inch, it would be of good value to collector! PS--It is spelled IMARI.
