Subject:Help with any info on Japanese print.

I was wondering if anybody had any information on this painting. I love it but dont know anything about it.

Nev,

This is a Japanese woodblock print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi printed in the mid 1840s. It is a triptych (composed of 3 pages each about 10 X 15 inches).

"In the Ruined Palace at S�ma, Masakado's Daughter Takiyasha Uses Sorcery to Gather Allies (S�ma no furudairi ni Masakado himegimi Takiyasha y�jutsu o motte mikata o atsumuru)"

I should add that given the good state, color of the reds, and some differences I see on close examination, I suspect that this is a later copy. Take a close look (start with the black lines) and see if you see differences between yours and the MFA print.
