Subject:any info on Japanes bronze horse sculpure?

I received this as a gift from my uncle in Kyoto before he died. Not even sure it's bronze--it weighs about three pounds, and the base measures 12 inches across. There is an artist's mark on the underbelly, but impossible to get good photo of it.
