Subject:Help/Tibetan/Gilded/Bronze
Posted By: Betty Sun, Mar 30, 2008 IP: 24.182.27.47

Hello, and thanks in advance!

I have a old statue from my fathers estate, it was appraised in 1971 as a 16th or 17thc Tibetan, bronze, silver and gold gilt statue of (can't remember) think 9 or 10 inches, and weighs about 9 or 10lbs.

I have done much research and can not find much on it, it's value? Its' age or even what it is.

I am in the market to sell it, but how to got about that? And who to contact? I have medical issues and need 2 to 4 surgeries is why I am parting with it.

ANY help is appreciated.

Sincerely,

Betty

I think it is a Japanese Kannon, not a Tibetan one. Is it gilded or silvered? It does not look like it's gilded from the photos.

Hi Betty,
This is definitely not a Tibetan bronze. I think it is most likely Japanese or possibly even Korean. However these are not fields I feel confident to comment on.

That is interesting. It has gold on it, but it is worn off in alot of the places it looks like. I said gilded because I do not know what else to call it. But when you look at it, it looks like a solid mix of bronze silver and gold in seperate places,?????
