Just curious what this is. Found it at an estate. Really have no idea what it is and was just curious if anyone knew. Thanks in advance.

I've seen similar pieces known as Knife money. But I'm afraid I can't tell if this is authentic or not. Google Chinese Knife money for more info.

Hi James,

This is a form of money used by the Chinese during the BC period, probably Han Dynasty.

however this sample is a modern reproduction. It does not shows the right forms of corosion.

What you show us is chinese money. It is a so called knife-coin. They were made around 500/300 BC. probely made for ceremonial purposes.The earliest examples had pointed ends. This one (hollow end)lookes like a later one(CHI-knife?). If original (I am not able to tell but maybe others can) this "coin" is about 2300 years old.

This is chinese knife money, see wikipedia or other sources on the net. Not necessarily old.

I have one of these pictured below Purchased in Hue vietnam Dealer said it was a key? to enter citadel or similar. Also said it was around 150yrs old. Made of Bronze? Possibly a copy but appears old one. Picture shows back as well Cheers hope this helps both of us......
