Subject:Weird Bronze ware, Chinese?
Posted By: peach88 Sat, Jul 19, 2008 IP: 67.86.28.162

I bought this from a local auction house with other Asian antiques. The shape looks like a official hat (unfortunately one wing is missing)in Ming period or earlier. There are two holes at the front, one is shaped like sun, the other like moon. The container can be opened and there is patina inside. The bottom looks like a chop, I can't read it, "Shou"? Anybody know what it is? age?

This patina looks correct for ming. It certainly looks interesting

Thanks, LKeh.
Do you know what it is? It looks like a scholar item to me. Ink well? Can you or anyone identify the writing at the bottom?
By the way, it's about 4"L, 4"H.
