Subject:Old Chinese Vase? HELP!
Posted By: levd Tue, Aug 19, 2008 IP: 77.251.106.94

Hello All,

I would like to ask the experts a question about a vase i have in the family for over some years now.
I would like to know if its fake or real old and what its potential value will be.

I really hope that someone could help me.

Thank you,

LEVD

levd,

The mark 4 characters on bottom read, top to bottom right to left 'Kangxi reign made', for Kangxi reign (1662-1722) Qing dynasty. This pretty common mark on much later products. Characters on yours not well drawn.

Extreme version 'baluster' vase form of yours is shape common made for decoration 20th century. I think yours made after 1920s, possibly Japan, possibly much later.

Enjoy as decoration, painting not badly done.

Good luck,
Cal

A 4 character Kangxi mark was used during the Guangxu Period and into the early years of the
Republican Period.
