Subject:Where is my China from?
Posted By: Carol Peterson Thu, Aug 21, 2008 IP: 71.215.225.170

I have my mother's china, collected by my father during from 1950 to 1954. He brought the pieces back on each trip when he was in the service, and is only short two (I think). They are gold rimmed, and appear to be hand painted (no two scenes are the same). Every piece is rimmed in gold, incl the handles. I can not, for the life of me, locate anything similar in scene or the markings. Some help or direction would be greatly appreciated. I would like, when I pass this on to my daughter, to be able to include where or by who it was made. there are no other markings other than the Japanese letters on the bottom of each piece.

Hello Carol,

I think you know the most. This is Japanese Kutani porcelain. I think the items were new when your father bought them. The marks says "Kutani".

best regards.

It was really from me - the link in my email took me to a page with an error on it. It wasn't clear how to get to the replies. But I did figure it out. Thanks.
