This came from the same military moving sale as the vases posted earlier. It has a mark and the headband seems to have writing. Not sure if it is bone or wood, it is not rock. The darker areas are almost like a coral, I think it is bone? Marks look like pictograph figures?

Was told to try a hot pin test on this item because it looked like resin. I used a steak knife till it turned red hot, stuck it to the bottom and it smelt like burnt hair? It did not burn the piece? So, I tried it several more times. No mark even with hard pressure and a burning hair smell. Not plastic on the bottom?

Thinking someone burried this item in a termite mound?
