Subject:Really need this piece identified...having a lot of difficulty. Thank you.

All we know or think we know about this piece is it is of a warrior (someone mentioned Aztec, possibly) and was excavated off the coast of the island of Borneo which is surrounded by the South China Sea. It apparently has been age tested (circa 1650 A.D.) and is painted with berry juice and zinc clay. It is of solid wood and one-piece construction.

This piece has never been repainted or restained.

Thank you for any help you may be able to lend.

Well, that is an interesting blend of story items.

'Berry juice' would not retain bright color if buried or submerged.

There is no way to 'age-test' wood to ca. 1650 CE unless it were sawed through and by some miracle some tree-rings could be matched with similar wood whose rings had been age-calibrated.

Good luck,
Cal
