Subject:Collection of Kangxi, celedon and some other porcelain pieces
Posted By: Roger Thu, Jan 01, 2009 IP: 219.237.105.171

I recently was looked over a friends personal collection of Chinese porcelain wares, which I thought I might share with everyone here. He deals in colonial antique Shanghai furniture but has picked up some nice porcelain pieces along the way. Very pretty stuff. Amazing how one of the bowls is almost paper thin. Translucent.

Note that these piece are not on display or for sale anywhere and were stuff in a cabinet in the back of his warehouse/shop/home. Personally, my speciality is furniture so I can't really claim to know tons about ceramics. But one thing I have found is that usually the good stuff tends to be hidden away in just those sort of places - off the beaten track, in the back of some warehouse or in someone's attic. In this case, in the back cabinet of a Chinese peasants small warehouse.

I only can put a few images here, so the rest are on our blog at

For now, I have included a slide show below which pulls the images from my page on Flickr or you can just You can click over from there to the hi-res photos.

The shallow tea bowl looks like Song dynasty Chingtechen ware with shadow-blue glaze.

Hello,

The first and third bowl are bad modern copies...the second bowl could be old but has no market value at all...the fourth item could be old or new but has no market value as well.

Is it really your friend personal collection?
