Hi, Qinglong mark (1736-95) but probably 20th century. The painting looks very fine so could be Republic. Some very fine work was produced in 1915 (Hongxian Period). Is it for sale?

Hello Walter,
First of all; your bowl is Chinese (that you probably allready knew). The mark reads "Qianlong nian zhi" but you bowl is not from that periode. My guess is that your bowl dates from around 1950. Still a nice bowl.

best regards,
Arjan

Hi Walter,

Nice bowl but I suspect it's probably made after 1980. Lots of Republic pieces have now been copied, after all that's what the Chinese do best.

First thing to look for is defects in the glaze.
If there are then you might be in with a chance. You haven't shown the base? that would confirm its true date.

For reference I've uploaded a base from the 1980's copying the 1950's.

Gary.

Thanks Gary, The bowl was bought in China in the 1940s. I posted the bowl because i thought it might be older than the 40s. i would send photo of the bottom but the bowl has been sold, the marks shown is on the bottom of the bowl. thanks Walt
