Subject:help please

Can anyone please help me find some information about these dishes. I have looked high and low on the net and cannot find this mark anywhere. These dishes were brought to England from China in the early 1900's. Thanks all!

Dear Leone,

Mayby bought in China but these items are in fact Japanese. If you turn the mark 180 degrees you have the right position to read them. I think it says " NIKKO SEI" where NIKKO is a mark and Sei means made by. I think mid 1900's fits more than early 1900's.

best regards,
Arjan

Leone, the porcelains shown are Japanese. Their mark (upside down in your photo) says "Nikko Sei" (Made at or by Nikko). Nikko is a city located northwest of Kyoto, although I can't verify whether it is the site of the kiln that made your dishes. There are quite a few modern-looking Nikko wares available on the internet. Regards, Bill H
