Subject:Jade Pieces
Posted By: Jeff Sat, Apr 18, 2009 IP: 72.148.151.15

I've included some pictures of jade items i've bought on ebay and would like some professional opinions as to their authenticity.

Thank you.

Jeff,

These new carvings from China with some chemical dying of whatever the stone is.

Are probably authentic hardstone rather than glass.

Are not close imitations of anything ancient.

Did vendor call them something specific, like 'Hongshan Jade'?

In China, many hardstones long have been and still are called 'jade', even if not nephrite or jadeite. If from vendor located in China, could be hard to prove complete fraud.

Good luck,
Cal

Jeff, they look impressive, and are nice display pieces. However, they are modern, and unless you test them by specific gravity, you'll never know if it is Jade. Please tell us how and where you obtained them.
Ernest
