Saw this old tin in a farmers barn and he gave it to me. Not sure what it was used for, but it cleaned up nice. Is this for Asian tea?

Dear Patrick

My granny had many of these oldy boxes, they are for Ceylon tea (tea from Sri Lanka), sole agent is English companies. But I do not know the one you have from which countries.

My granny liked to put coins in them and I stole her coins for buying candies. That was 40 yrs ago.

Such machine-printed container used for tea sold western department and gift stores or sold separately. 1960s-1990s-now. Not 'tin' except British meaning "can". Made of cheap rolled steel.

Patrick, if it was good tea, the contents of the tin probably came from the East, but the tin looks like its decoration was conceived in the West. Regards, Bill H.
