Message Hi Hagard, Your "vase" looks Japanese to me. A bit a combination of Imari and panels witch looks like Kutani - Shoza style (My impression). The blue looks very light for (older) Japanese. This makes me think of 20th.century. About shape and function; I'm not sure it's a vase. The shape looks a bit like a spitoon to me.
