Hello all, as I posted already, I am a new member to this forum and have a question about an eBay seller. The seller is Imperial Art, you can visit their store at: http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Imperial-Art-Ltd__W0QQ_armrsZ1 I have heard this seller is a seller of fakes, which is frankly not surprising seeing as he is located in Hong Kong- which of course has nothing to do with race, just that Asian antiquities sellers are usually sellers of reproductions, 99.99% of the time anyway.

Can some members post their opinions? BTW, don't let the high prices fool you, they used to sell pieces for only a few hundred dollars at auction. Also, ignore the fact that they are an eBay seller, I don't think that should have any influence, especially since there are some very respectable sellers of Asian antiquities on eBay, like Tony Allen.

Thanks for your help!

If it looks like a fake, and walks like a fake, and quacks like a fake, then it must be a fake, and there's probably a fence nearby.

Bad part is that eBay itself helps predatory sellers flog obviously misrepresented wares by forcing their ads into the search results of collectors and buyers like us who do everything possible to exclude the awful offal they offer from our searches. In my view, most people with a real antique to list have no reason to pay extra to advertise on a place like eBay.

That's my opinion, and yes, I believe your instincts in the matter are right-on!

Cheers,

Bill H

Hi, I haven`t looked at this seller for a long while & though the photo`s of his pieces here may look OK I do remember him selling more obvious fake pieces in the past & so agree with Bill that your instincts are probably correct. Some unscrupulous sellers also salt there fake items with a few, (normally lower quality) genuine pieces, the tricks are endless.

Not all HK sellers are bad though, I consider myself respectable & I sell a few bits on ebay now & again, (although it`s tougher & tougher these days) & I happen to live in HK so please don`t always jump to conclusions just because the items location is HK.

All the best,
Phil.
