could anyone help me to identify the following item.
I got it as a useless gift, but my feeling says it is very old.
Where it from? and how old it may be?
Would appreciate any info.

By the quality of the workmanship I would guess that it is quite modern...artificially antiqued !

but the guy who gave it to me, bought it for several euro at fleamarket....why would someone make it antique artificially if it is so cheap?
i mean if the same thing was modern looking, it wouldn't cost less(maybe even more)...
just trying to understand
