Subject:unidentified piece
Posted By: Kat Willis Tue, Apr 27, 2010 IP: 69.19.101.209 I have a piece I am not sure what it is. I was told it was a netsuke but I have been unable to find any that look anything like it and now I have been told it is not. It has a hole at the top and the top comes off. It measures 4 1/2" by 3 1/2". I'm not even sure what it is made of but it feels like stone. I thought someone might be able to assist me. I have attached pictures. Thank you for your assistance. |

Posted By: Stan Tue, Apr 27, 2010 I can't help much. It is not a netsuke. It looks like it is carved from soapstone - a very soft and easily worked stone. The quailty of the workmanship isn't that good. |
