This is a wall pocket. If you can offer any information about it, I would appreciate it.

Hello Cherie,

This one is Japanese and has the marking of Fukagawa. The characters reads "Fuka gawa sei" This execution of the mark was in use around 1892. Nice item.

Regards,

Arjan

The mark iks definitely Fukagawa and the mark and style are currently in use. The wall pocket is probably mid 20th century.

Hello Cherie and Roger,

I'm sorry, I had to put on my glases first before answering because Roger is right about the mark and his later dating. Clue in these is the double line (river) under the mountain. The older execution had a single one.

Regards,

Arjan
