Subject:Chinesse Vase
Posted By: William Dollarhide Wed, Jun 16, 2010 IP: 96.18.48.116

I was wondering if anyone could assist me with identifying this vase. I have done some research and cannot find anything solid. The vase is 9" tall, 9" wide. The opening in the vase is 3" in diameter. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

The mark on your vase reads" Qianlong nian zhi" but products with these kind of marks -4 red characters in a (double)square- often dates from second half 20th. century and were often decorated in Hongkong or Macao.

Regards,

Arjan

Arjan is correct about dating.

Your item is not a 'vase' but is in the form of a covered jar of type usually called 'ginger jar'.

Yours made for decoration.

Good luck,
Cal
