Posted By: Terry Bostock Sat, Jul 24, 2010 IP: 94.171.164.175

Hi
Would be grateful if someone could help me with the translation and dating from a small green Chinese Teapot which Ive recently aquired.
The teapot has a small turtle on the lid and has a stamped seal on the base along with two seals in the lid and also writing on one side and a picture on the reverse
I will put the reverse side on a further question
Any help would be appreciated
Regards
Boz

Do internet search for green Yixing.

New pots have little figurines such as duck, kitty, koi, and your tortoise. Are exporters' catalogs for them on web.

Many Yixing items since 1960 have inscribed poems, pictures.

The teapots are excellent for tea if well cared for.

Good luck,
Cal

Hi,

This is a modern "Yixing'' Teapot.

Yixing clay teapot is ideal for old Pu'er tea degustation and few other type of Chinese famous teas...

...
Wikipedia article is concise but good intro.

Seals marks are distinctive seals from manufacturer or teapot maker, yours appears to be hand made and signed.
