Subject:Is this imari
Posted By: Kathy Clark Fri, Jul 30, 2010 IP: 69.19.48.224

I got this little jar, a ginger jar with the lid missing, I think, at an auction. Is anyone familiar with this piece, origin, age, etc. value?

thanks
kathy

Hello Kathy,

You seem to have your own example (see other post) because this is what most people will call Satsuma (creamish paste/glaze, cracled). I guess this one is made in Kyoto (Kyo-Satsuma) around 1900. It's not the highest quality Satsuma and also not very valuable.

Regards,

Arjan
