Posted By: Bill H Sat, Aug 07, 2010 The highly decorated pot is in the essential form of a melon with scrolling acanthus leaves and flowers on the lobes and a lotus finial on the lid. The script on the base may be Thai or Lao. The handle also is a style seen in bronze on some Chinese teapots made for Thailand. I've seen late 20th century melon-shaped lidded boxes with almost identical decoration in a paktong-type metal marked 'Made in Japan'. |
