Subject:Chinese vase 2nd one
Posted By: peter fleming Thu, Aug 12, 2010 IP: 89.168.227.65

Good Afternoon,

My father has recent passed away and I am having trouble in finding someone who could valuate his collection of vases. At present there are 2 vases and I just need to know if they command a good price. This is vase 2 of 2 its around 20cm tall.

Any help apart from "give ya a fiver for it" would be most appreciated

same for this one as Cal's post for the other one: looks like a decent quality modern product, the qianlong mark on the base is spurious.

Hi all,

What wasn't mentioned is the name of this ware.
Cal, Rat ... Am I wrong if I call this "Peking glass"?

Regards,

Arjan

'Beijing glass' is Western dealer-invent term to imply Imperial-quality glassware. What made 18th-19th century not made in Beijing and very little for Imperial household. Glassmakers longtime made glass items to imitate jade, other material. Imperial household have real jade, real coral, real ruby, real rock crystal, and glass utensils mainly inferior to porcelain.

Avoid term.

Good luck,
Cal
