Subject:help with these chinese figuine
Posted By: suvro Sun, Sep 12, 2010 IP: 223.223.141.107 Hiii, i have recently got this chinese figure consisting of eight characters. it has something written in chinese language and has three stamped marks on the bottom of it. The bottom has one hole...please help me to identify the makers and era if possible....any idea about its subject will be appreciated...in the next post i will send the some pictures highlighting the inscription(or letter). thanx |

Posted By: Bill H Mon, Sep 13, 2010 This grouping probably represents the Daoist deities called the 'Eight Immortals' who are described at length by an article under their name at wikipedia.com. The factory or artisan stamp on the base isn't clear enough to discern the characters. You might try again, taking a time exposure with camera on a tripod and lighting the stamps from a side angle to improve clarity. |

Posted By: Bill H Wed, Sep 15, 2010 I gave it my best shot, but the resolution and focus is not sharp enough for me to discern the strokes in the characters accurately. Perhaps one of our Chinese members will be able to recognize it. |
