Hello Kathy,

Indeed, not an old piece. It dates from second half 20th. century; probably around 1960'-70's. The mark reads (upside down) " Ko San yo " or Kosan kiln in Englisch.

Regards,

Arjan

The paper sticker with the 'OMC' initials above 'JAPAN' is a label of the Otagiri Mercantile Company which was one of the largest wholesalers of quality Japanese porcelain sold in western department stores and US military exchange outlets during the late 20th century. Enesco bought Otagiri in the 1990's and has discontinued the OMC brand according to information on the web.

Best regards,

Bill H.
