Subject:ivory ? vase
Posted By: leeanne Tue, Oct 05, 2010 IP: 77.102.53.34 i dont no 2 much about this vase CARVED DECORATED IVORY CHINESE VASE W/ELEPHANTS size 12" HIGH 7 1/2 WIDE 9" DEPTH. MAY be from the meiji period i would like some help with this |

Posted By: Bill H Wed, Oct 06, 2010 It's difficult to tell from the size of the image but this vase may be a resin casting. Look closely at the surface with a magnifying glass and see if you can spot the small bubble bursts that usually are found on such pieces. If it is real ivory, you should be able to see the natural grain in it. |
