Maybe some of our friends or accidental visitors can give an opinion about place and age of this piece of fabric and also the function.

Since you do not give dimensions (and in any case could be cut down from larger piece), specific function could not be determined - among possible is cushion cover.

Woven fabrics produced long-time all over Middle East.

Dating would rely on actual testing of dyes and examination of fibers in microscope and/or special lighting. Can not be done by picture, can be done by museum textile curator staff. If some dyes aniline, could say mainly made after 1870. But could be made 1956, 2003.
