Subject:Matter of procedure
Posted By: Luis Estepa Wed, Dec 01, 2010 IP: 83.44.11.251

Dear Sirs:
I have sent two messages with Middle East ceramic and fabris with no answer, after I asked the reason why I did not get any answer, affirmative or negative... silence again. I think if the items proposed are not interesting to the forum a polite refusal is a better procedure than ignoring the massage.
Sincerely:
Luis

As far as I know there's no imperative among forum participants to confess ignorance or apologize for a lack of answers on any particular topic. If a question doesn't get answered, the only thing to be inferred is that no one feels they have anything meaningful to offer.

Wasn't there a line in a book or motion picture once that said "True love of antiques means never having to say you're sorry!"?

Best regards,

Bill H.

Dear Luis,

I'm sorry to read you didn't get the answers you hoped for. I'm just a regular visitor of this site but I think I can say that nobody is ignored here. If a post/question stays unanswered it just means that none of the visitors knows the answer.

Regards,

Arjan

This is forum where any may view or comment. Is not "ask the experts" where designated persons reply -- are other web sites do this including some auction houses.

Forum also oriented more to East Asian and SE Asian arts rather than Middle East.

No one person can say "no one viewing this message board will have comment on your item."

Good luck,
Cal

Dear Luis,

You had an answer on each of your post. 1 on the fabric, 1 on the ceramic. Pls check your previuos posts to see it.

Have a nice day.

Dear Luis, I don't know what you posted for comment but the likely reason you didn't receive a response is not that no one is interested but that no one feels able to comment. In either case, no individual can speak for the whole group to say that no one is interested. the primary expertise here seems to be chinese and japanese art rather than middle eastern ceramics and fabrics.
