Subject:Satsuma Vase

Need some help with a value on this. I got this from my father's estate. Been in the family from at least the 1950's. Measures 25 inches high and a little more than 36 inches around at its widest point. Stamp on the bottom is hard to make out. Does say Made in Japan, but can't figure out the other marks. Any help with this piece would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Julie,
Your vase is a Japanese export ware from 1930's -1940's, with a painter's signature to base, Suizan ( a part of the kanji characters is worn and not clear ). I would not call this type of Japanese ware as Satsuma, although most people might not agree with me. Your vase is a commercial produt to fill a rushed order placed by a foreign buyer. The maker's name is minor and not important.
Best Regards,
Emiko

Interesting! Do you have any idea as to the value of such a vase?

Julie,
It depends what you want and what you sell to.
Good Luck,

Hi Dave,
Still not too much farther than when I started. Aren't those guys creepy looking?
P.S. Love the kids' artwork on the fridge...looks just like mine...now that's art!
Julie:)
