Any info on this painting on silk would be greatly appreciated! It's measured 18" x 41". Thanks in advance for your help!

Per the inscription supposedly a Qing painting by Jin Yanbiao but I'm quite doubtful of this. Like your other painting some of the individual elements look quite good but they don't hold together very well. here a Castiglione style horse in an otherwise anonymous blue and green type setting, the inscription perhaps added later. The question is when exactly it was painted. very recently? not recent? ok quality, but not what it says it is.

Hello Rat,
Thanks for your evaluation on this painting. I've owned this painting for a long time, so as the previous owner. The paiting is framed under glass so there are glarez (?) and flashes showed on the pictures. Plus, i had to resize them to be able to post them on here. I'm excited to learn the artist's name.
Again, greatly appreciated your expertise.
Sincerely yours,

please don't misunderstand, I don't believe your painting was actually done by Jin Yanbiao, that's only what the inscription says and there are many, many examples of Chinese paintings that have had inscriptions added by the unscrupulous in an often successful quest to resell the painting as by a recognized artist. Now that paintings by recognized artists can be readily seen in museums, in books, and online, there is much less basis than in the past for such shenanigans to persist. Don't fall for the same scam. If the painting was indeed done by Jin, I'd appreciate seeing evidence of how consistent it is with what's known of his body of work.

Hello Rat,
I did not misunderstand you at all. On the contrary, I really enjoy and appreciate your expert opinion on the subject matter. I hope you did not misunderstand my comments either :-). There are so many fakes and forgeries out there that i totally understand why we have to be skeptical of what we see.
Your thorough evaluation on the subject is excellent despite seeing the painting via few digital photograph. I'm excited to learn more of what i own, and it was possible due to your advice.
Keep up the good work! I might have more objects to post soon.
Thanks again,
Best regards,

for what it's worth, the inscription says that the painting was painted in mid-summer 1763 in the style of a painter whose name I don't recognize offhand, Zhao Zhongmu. Zhongmu is likely an appelation/nickname, not the artist's given name, but none of the major painters I know of surnamed Zhao have this nickname. Again, the quality of elements of the painting is quite good, but I don't have any real basis to believe it's by Jin
