Subject:Help needed identifying a print
Posted By: Amy Sat, Jan 22, 2011 IP: 72.230.135.242

I purchased this print on a whim and am interested in finding out more about the artist, the title and possibly the value. It is in fairly good condition with no rips or tears. The color bleeds through to the back of the paper. Minimal staining along the edges. No glue. It is slightly bigger lengthwise than is shown in the picture.

Amy,

The picture is too small to be of any use (unless someone is lucky enough to recognize it). We would need a close up of the signature (lower right). All I can say at this point is that it is 20th century (not my area of interest).

Cheers,
Stan

Thank you for the response. I've tried to attach some more pictures, including the close up.

The artist is Miyagawa Shuntei (1873-1914). I could not directly identify the series depicting children (two girls holding battledores at play). Date 1890s. The print is in a poor condition, the paper is badly toned and the colours faded.

Guy.
