Subject:Who can tell me more about this woodblock?
Posted By: Hans Sat, May 14, 2011 IP: 87.211.104.8

Before It came in to my possession it was not treated very well Im afraid.
I know it is Japanese.
Could Anyone tell me what the characters means.
Who could be the maker and how old are they?
What could be the value in the state it is in right now?
Thank you for all the answers you can give.

This not my area of interest as far as woodblock prints is concerned. I prefer the Edo era, but...

I can tell you that is early 20th century. Unless it is exceptionally rare, in its present condition, it is worth $50ish maybe. The main damage is a water stain. This can be reduced by restoration. However, I expect that it would cost more for restoration than it would add to the value of the print.

Others are more expert on these prints. With luck, someone will respond.

Cheers,
Stan
