Subject:Help with Bronze - Faux Ceramic
Posted By: mjbakst Wed, May 18, 2011 IP: 69.121.242.137

I'm wondering if anybody can help me with any info about this great little bronze I've recently acquired. I'm assuming it's Japanese. It came in it's original box with old padding, yellow cotton cloth, and green/brown silk/cotton (I think) ribbon, and stands approximately 8 1/8" tall.

Is this a functional piece? Saki container maybe? Is it perhaps made to look like a famous old antique ceramic container? How old? Can anyone read the mark on the bottom?

Thanks in advance.

Looks like a Japanese studio piece to me.

Thanks Peter. Any idea when this bronze was made or the mark on the bottom says?
