Subject:Chang-dai chien Hand Painted Plate - Need Information
Posted By: Mary Wed, May 25, 2011 IP: 76.20.18.186 Hello I have aquired a beautiful hand painted plate done by Chang Dai Chien - I have never seen him do paintings on plates before which has peaked my curiousity - The back of the piece is marked Made in Taiwan - Rep. of China - Not for Resale. Im hoping someone can translate the writing for me to perhaps find out its date and title - and also why its marked on the back Not for Resale. Thank you for any help someone can provide. |

Posted By: Mary Thu, May 26, 2011 HI Gary - Yes you are 100% correct - I did just find out yesturday that the plate is NOT handpainted its actually a decal - and was done as a promotional thing for an art show to be given to big donators to a particular museum - it turns out the event never took place - and in turn there was a big chang collector who donated them to local california museums - so the plate itself was never even painted by chang - but ty for "validating" what I had orig thought - Mary =) |
